Becoming pregnant is a fascinating and scary process all at the same time. In just the blink of an eye some sort of genetic problem can occur, but amazingly enough most babies appear to be born without blemish. Fortunately, with the increase in pregnancy information more and more people are becoming educated on simple things they can do to reduce complications. Taking folic acid is one of these.

Research has found that by taking just 400 mcg of folic acid a day, you can decrease the risk of you baby developing a neural tube defect by 75%. Folic acid can be found in many food sources as well as in most multivitamin and prenatal vitamins.

Expecting Mother Multivitamin is an over the counter multivitamin that goes above and beyond to ensure that you are getting enough folic acid in your diet. In each serving not only will you find some essential vitamins and nutrients, but you will also find 5 mg of folic acid in each serving.

The recommended serving of Expecting Mother Multivitamin was created for women who are trying to conceive, are currently pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Unfortunately though, Expecting Mother Multivitamin does not contain any high-quality ingredients including CoQ10, DHA, Choline, Inositol, Ginger Root, or have any probiotics.

Expecting Mother Multivitamin Ingredients

•	Vitamin C, D, E, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Pantothenic Acid, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Lutein

Is Expecting Mother Multivitamin a Safe Option?

Most research shows that up to 1,000 mcg of folic acid a day is safe for you and your baby. Most doctors do not recommend that you do consume more than this amount in a 24-hour period. However, as mentioned before, Expecting Mother Multivitamin contains 5 mg of folic acid in each serving.

A study done in London found that by consuming this amount each day, your risk of developing a neural tube defect decreased by 75% more. For women who have had problems with neural tube defects in the past, this research is huge. However for most women, this amount is not necessary. In fact more than 1000 mcg of folic acid can mask problems like pernicious anemia that can occur from taking folic acid.

The Bottom Line . . .

As a RN in the OB/GYN field, and someone who has children of her own, I can understand first hand how important folic acid is before and during pregnancy. However, 5 mg daily seems a bit extreme to me. Especially if it may cause additional problems. I would definitely consult with your healthcare professional before making the decision to take Expecting Mother Multivitamin.

Furthermore, with all of the high-quality ingredients lacking in the supplement including other ingredients like calcium, this supplement does not scream high quality. You and your baby deserve the best, so make sure you are taking the best. Not only can you get high quality and affordability, but also you can have the peace of mind of knowing you are doing everything possible to have the healthiest pregnancy possible. So, if you decide that Expecting Mother Multivitamin is not right for you make sure you check out the top supplements on prenatalvitamins.org.

Right now the hospital I’m working at is full of mom’s who for some reason or another delivered their baby prematurely. Some because of health problems such as preeclampsia, and others because their water broke, or they went into labor early and their contractions could not be stopped. Regardless of the reason, ensuring that you are as healthy as possible during your pregnancy will provide greater outcomes for both you and your baby.

Part of being healthy is taking a good prenatal vitamin that provides you with all the essential vitamins and nutrients you and your baby need. Pure Essence Labs One n’ Only Prenatal Multiple is an over the counter prenatal vitamin supplement that contains high amounts of folic acid, Vitamin A, C, E, D, and iron. It also contains one high quality ingredient, Ginger Root.

Ginger Root is an herb that has been used for centuries to help with nausea and vomiting. While you are pregnant, it is recommended that you do not exceed more than 400 mg of Ginger Root a day. In One n’ Only Prenatal Multiple there are 100 mg of Ginger Root in each serving. One n’ Only Prenatal Multiple is also full of B Vitamins that can also combat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

One benefit of One n’ Only Prenatal Multiple is the whole food super complexes that are used to further provide nutrition for your baby. Not only does the body recognize these phyto-nutrients as food, but it also makes digestion and absorption easier.

One n’ only Prenatal Multiple only contains 1% of the recommended daily amount of calcium. Calcium is essential for the development of your baby’s teeth and bones. Not only can a lack of calcium cause bone density problems for you, but it can also cause problems in the baby as well.

The bottom line is that One n’ Only Prenatal Multiple is missing too many important ingredients. Not only is it lacking the high-quality ingredients CoQ10, DHA, Choline, Inositol, as well as probiotics, but it is also missing essential ingredients as well.

CoQ10, can help lower your chances of developing preeclampsia, and DHA can help with the development of your baby’s eyes and brain. Choline helps improve long-term memory in your baby, and Inositol can further reduce the risk of your baby developing a neural tube defect. Finally probiotics can help prevent premature labor. As mentioned before, with so many babies being delivered prematurely, this is a huge benefit and may actually save your baby’s life. And if premature delivery does occur, probiotics can actually lower the risk of your baby developing NEC which can destroy their bowels and cause death.

You and your baby deserve the best outcome possible, and by taking a high-quality prenatal vitamin your chances of a healthy pregnancy increase. Plus at $0.61 a day, you can have so much more!! So, if you decide that One n’ Only Prenatal Multiple is not right for you, make sure you check out the top supplements on prenatalvitamins.org.

Three fourths or more of all women who become pregnant will experience some sort of morning sickness during pregnancy. Suddenly brushing your teeth, swallowing pills, and smelling certain things have become your demise. And it seems like no matter how hard you try to swallow your prenatal vitamin, it just won’t go down.

That’s why Bellybar created Bellybar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin. It is an over the counter prenatal vitamin that comes in two different berry flavors. It is recommended by OB/GYN’s alike and is fairly affordable. In each serving you will find high amounts of vitamins including, Vitamin A, B6, D, Calcium, Folic Acid, Iron, Vitamin C and Zinc. However, you will not find any high-quality ingredients in Bellybar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin.

Many people wonder why high-quality ingredients are so important in prenatal vitamins. The truth is, you cannot afford not to have these ingredients in your vitamins. The ingredients I am talking about are CoQ10, DHA, Choline, Inositol, Ginger Root, and probiotics. Each one of these ingredients plays an important role in the growth and development of your baby. They also help protect you as well!!

•	CoQ10- helps lower your chances of developing preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is the leading cause of death for both mom and baby during pregnancy and results in 76,000 deaths a year.
•	DHA- helps improve your baby’s IQ by aiding with the development of your baby’s eyes and brain.
•	Choline- improves long-term memory by increasing the speed that the neurons are able to fire in your baby’s brain.
•	Inositol- helps prevent neural tube defects in your baby.
•	Ginger Root- relieves morning sickness.
•	Probiotics- help prevent preterm labor, obesity, and diabetes as well as NEC in preterm babies. Probiotics also help boost both you and your baby’s immune systems.

As a RN in the healthcare field I have a hard time recommending a prenatal vitamin supplement that is lacking so many high-quality ingredients. The Bellybar company argues that you can get it all, but they fail to tell you that you have to take additional products as well. When you add up the total cost you would be paying to get all the nutrients necessary, it will cost you $5.80 a day. Yikes!! Suddenly that chewable supplement doesn’t seem so appetizing.

And speaking of appetizing, many women report that the taste of the chewable supplement is disgusting and leaves a strong iron taste in their mouth. What’s worse, choking down pills, or tasting iron all day? I think Bellybar needs to go back to the drawing board.

The top supplements on the market can offer you so much more!! Not only can you get affordability, but you can also get quality at the fraction of the price you would be paying for Bellybar. You owe it to yourself and your baby to have the very best. So, if you decide that BellyBar Chewable Prenatal Vitamins are not right for you, make sure you check out the top supplements on prenatalvitamins.org.

What is Mother to Be by Pure Essence?

I don’t know about you, but choosing a prenatal vitamin can be very overwhelming. I remember the last time I went in for my initial pregnancy appointment I left with a gift bag full of prenatal vitamin samples and a separate prescription from my doctor as well. He basically told me that they were all good and it was up to me to choose. What? How was I supposed to know?

Well, there isn’t a lot of scientific reasoning to it. The bottom line is that we are all looking for a great prenatal vitamin at an affordable price. Mother to Be by Pure Essence Labs is an over the counter supplement that offers many essential vitamins and nutrients. In each serving you will find high amounts of folic acid, and iron.

However, part of finding a good prenatal vitamin is to find one with as many key ingredients as possible. Unfortunately, Mother to Be contains only one key ingredient, and that is Ginger Root. Mother to Be does lacks the key ingredients CoQ10, DHA, Choline, Inositol, and does not have any probiotics.

What Ingredients are in Mother to Be by Pure Essence Labs?

•	Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Vitamin B12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Iodine, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Potassium, Silica, Manganese, Boron, Selenium, Chromium, Molybdenum, Vanadium
•	Super Foods Complex, Herbal Extracts, Co-Nutrients, Bioflavonoids, Digestive Enzymes, Phytonutrient Complex

What Key Ingredients Are missing in Mother to Be by Pure Essence Labs?

As mentioned before, there are five key ingredients missing from Mother to Be. CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that protects the cell membranes of your cells, and may reduce your risk of developing preeclampsia while you are pregnant. Research has found that DHA is vital for the development of your baby’s eyes and brain.

Choline helps the neurons in your brain to fire faster and also helps improve your long-term memory. Inositol decreases the chances of your baby developing a neural tube defect, and probiotics not only boost you and your baby’s immune systems but also help prevent premature labor.

What Else Should I know about Mother to Be by Pure Essence Labs?

Ginger Root is the only key ingredient found in Mother to Be. Ginger Root is a powerful herb that helps with nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. However, while you are pregnant you can take up to 1 gm a day, and there is just 100 mg per serving in Mother to Be.

The calcium level is way below the recommended daily amount, so an additional calcium supplement should be taken.

Overall Rating of Mother to Be by Pure Essence Labs

Mother to Be is an average prenatal vitamin supplement. Not only is it lacking many essential vitamins and nutrients, but it is lacking the majority of key ingredients as well.

Don’t settle for mediocre when you can have quality and affordability. As a RN in the OB/GYN field, I know that you can get a lot more bang for your buck. So, if you decide that Mother to Be is not right for you, make sure you check out the top supplements on prenatalvitamins.org.

Breaking News!

You may have heard that probiotics can help your digestion, but did you know that they may also be able to save your unborn baby’s life? In Norway, researchers closely studied the intake and effects of probiotics on over 30,000 pregnant women. Their findings proved that probiotics are even more essential for pregnant women and their unborn babies than we had previously known. In many of our vitamin reviews, we encourage women to find a prenatal vitamin that contains probiotics because it can reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia. However, in the Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study, it was found that the consumption of probiotics during pregnancy can reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia by 20%. This is even higher than we could have hoped. But wait! There’s more!

Probiotics and Severe Pre-eclampsia

Perhaps the most surprising and impressive finding of this study was the unique effect that probiotics has on severe pre-eclampsia. When pregnant women consumed probiotics weekly, pre-eclamsia was reduced by 25%, and when consumed daily, probiotics reduced the risk of pre-eclampsia by 39%!

The Science Behind the Numbers

The Norwegian Institute for Public Health hypothesizes that probiotics may work in one of two ways to reduce pre-eclampsia. The first theory is that probiotics have a local effect on the cells that actually surround the embryo. In the second hypothesis, scientists reason that probiotics help reduce overall inflammation (one of the proposed causes of pre-eclampsia). Either way, probiotics positively affect the way your body reacts to pre-eclampsia and help your natural defenses fight the condition.

Pre-eclampsia and you

For many pregnant women, pre-eclampsia is something vague to worry about. Remember when your parents would shine a flashlight under the bed to “get rid of monsters”? Well, now we’re the grown-ups and the best way to prevent pre-eclampsia is to shine a light on the matter and understand it!

Pre-eclampsia is a serious condition that affects 2-8% of all pregnancies. Once pre-eclampsia develops, the more serious eclampsia can follow, which causes seizures and can be life-threatening to you and your baby. Basically, pre-eclampsia occurs when a pregnant woman develops high-blood pressure, or if high-blood pressure becomes worse. High-blood pressure is particularly dangerous when you’re pregnant because it can prevent the placenta from giving your baby the food and oxygen that he or she needs. At this early stage, your baby may be undernourished, underweight, and/or need to be delivered early. If the condition worsens, seizures and placental abruption can result – both of which are highly dangerous to you and your baby. Obviously, understanding the severity of this occurrence also means understanding the importance of preventing pre-eclampsia. Probiotics are an easy and viable way to prevent pre-eclampsia and protect you and your baby.

Probiotics and you

Fortunately for you (and your baby), probiotics are relatively easy to find these days. Although you can get probiotics from yogurt, some soy based foods, and fermented foods like sauerkraut, the easiest and most reliable way to make sure that you are getting sufficient probiotics every single day is to find a prenatal vitamin that includes probiotics. Probiotics are not just popular with health food stores anymore! The best prenatal vitamins on the market today should include probiotics! So check those labels and get your probiotics!

What is vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA?

VitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA is actually two separate products combined by vitaMed MD. When you buy this combo pack, you get one prenatal multivitamin (Complete Prenatal Multivitamin) and one softgel containing DHA (300mg Prenatal DHA). You can read a full review of the prenatal multivitamin here. But I’ll give an overview of both the multivitamin and the DHA supplement as well.

VitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA is meant to be taken by pregnant women (or those trying to become pregnant). VitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA contains ingredients that serve as supplements to a healthy diet.

Does vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA contain any high-end ingredients?

Since vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA is really two products, I’ll discuss their ingredients separately. The Prenatal Multivitamin Tablets contain vitamin C, vitamin D2, vitamin E, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, biotin, pantothenic acid, calcium, iron, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, molybdenum, microcrystalline cellulose, dibasic calcium phosphate, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, polythylene glycol, and natural orange flavor.

The Softgels with 300mg life’sDHA contain DHA, starch, glycerin, water, carrageenan, sorbitol, caramel, orange oil, high oleic sunflower oil, sunflower lecithin, tocopherols, and ascorbic palpitate.

When it comes to high-end ingredients, vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA contains folic acid, calcium, iron, and DHA: four crucial ingredients in a prenatal vitamin. However, vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA lacks CoQ10, probiotics, choline, ginger root, and inositol: four ingredients that prevent premature birth, decrease the risk of diabetes, reduce the risk of birth defects, and prevent and treat nausea. In essence, four ingredients you DON’T want to miss out on.

Is vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA cost effective?

At $29.99, vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA is definitely not a bad deal. Considering that vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA DOES contain the four basics of a prenatal vitamin: folic acid, calcium, iron, and DHA, vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA could be an option if you are short on money. However, it does bear mentioning that vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA comes in a tablet form, making it harder for your body to break down and absorb. I always give higher ratings to prenatal vitamin that come in capsule form since they are better for your body to break down and absorb. Furthermore, although I love that vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA contains calcium, moms should know that the 150mg that it contains is far below the amount that you and your baby need.

Overall opinion . . .

While vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA is not at the top of my list, neither is it at the bottom. For an affordable prenatal vitamin, vitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA is definitely not a bad option. However, I much prefer recommending a prenatal vitamin that contains ALL EIGHT of the most important prenatal nutrients. VitaMed MD 300mg Prenatal DHA only contains four. Still at the end of the day, this review is still one person’s opinion. Talk to your doctor before deciding on a prenatal vitamin that’s right for you. And good luck! This is a very special time in your life and picking a prenatal vitamin is one of many steps on the road to motherhood.

VitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin is a fairly straightforward and run-of-the-mill prenatal vitamin. With a host of vitamins, folic acid, calcium, and iron, vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin has your bases covered. Furthermore, vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin is a simple once-a-day pill, which gets some points from me.

Does vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin contain any high-end ingredients?

Although vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin provides the minimal nutrients needed to keep a pregnancy healthy, it does lack some high-end ingredients. Like our homepage states, there are eight prenatal nutrients that we consider to be THE MOST IMPORTANT to you and your baby. Two of these are folic acid and calcium (which vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin have) but when it comes to DHA, CoQ10, probiotics, choline, ginger root, and inositol, vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin falls short.

Although it can be difficult (and expensive) to find a prenatal vitamin with all eight of these ingredients, the benefits are enormous. Even a small amount of these miracle-workers can do anything from preventing and curing nausea to reducing the risk of birth defects. Since you don’t have all day, I won’t discuss the finer points of each of these ingredients, but I will focus on one you might not have heard of – CoQ10. In recent studies, pregnant women that took CoQ10 greatly reduced the risk of pre-eclampsia (a serious condition that frequently results in a premature and emergency delivery). Not only that, CoQ10 can help your heart and may even prevent cancer!

Given all of the research and technology that has gone into investigating these valuable ingredients, it seems silly to settle for a prenatal vitamin that is anything less than the best. If you want to take a look at our top-rated prenatal vitamin, click here.

Is vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin cost effective?

Yes. However, when shopping for a prenatal vitamin, it’s important to take quality into account. For me, quality doesn’t mean the fanciest or most expensive product, but one that finds a balance between excellence and affordability. With that in mind, vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin costs $13.99 (for one month’s supply). This is a great price for a prenatal vitamin, although this may be partially because vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin comes in tablet form. Tablets are cheaper to manufacture, but not necessarily the best choice for you. Tablets are harder for your body to break down. When possible, I try to buy vitamins in capsule form.

Bottom line . . .

To me, vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin doesn’t really stand out among a large playing field of prenatal vitamins. Although vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin contains folic acid, calcium, and iron, it lacks many other important nutrients. Furthermore, although vitaMed Complete Prenatal Multivitamin contains calcium, it has only 150mg per dose (pregnant women need about seven times this much calcium in a single day).

Of course, it’s up to you to decide if a prenatal vitamin is right for you. Read some reviews, talk to your doctor, and then start taking those vitamins!

Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins are chewable prenatal vitamins that provide pregnant women (and their unborn babies) supplementation to a healthy diet. You already know that pregnancy is no joke. Neither is picking the perfect prenatal vitamin. While there are dozens of prenatal vitamins to choose from, not all prenatal vitamins are created equally. When searching for a prenatal vitamin, remember – there are eight key ingredients to look for when buying a prenatal vitamin: folic acid, calcium, DHA, CoQ10, probiotics, choline, ginger root, and inositol.

So how do Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins measure up? Let’s take a look.

What ingredients are in Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins?

Each dose of Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins contains vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, zinc, choline, and omega 3 fatty acids – including 50mg of DHA. Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins also includes glucose syrup, sucrose, gelatin, natural flavors, citric acid, colors, carrot juice, blueberry juice, black carrot juice extract, lactic acid, and fumaric acid.

One ingredient in particular that Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins brag about is DHA. DHA comes from fish oil and can truly make a difference to you and your baby during this crucial stage. As your baby develops, DHA helps his or her brain and eyes grow quickly. After researching DHA, scientists agree that children that received DHA while still in the womb excelled in concentration and performed better in school. Just think! You could be improving your child’s grades while he or she is still in the womb!

What key ingredients are missing in Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins?

Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins get big points for supplying plenty of folic acid, DHA, and choline. However, Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins lack calcium, CoQ10, probiotics, ginger root, and inositol. Surprisingly, Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins do not include any iron – a mainstay in prenatal vitamins.

What else should I know about Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins?

It’s important to understand the pros and cons of Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins. As the name implies, Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins are meant to be chewed, not swallowed. If you have trouble swallowing pills, you definitely don’t have to worry about taking Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins. I’ve tried them and they taste great!

That being said – Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins lack some seriously important ingredients. Even though Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins taste great, I don’t want my baby or I to go without crucial nutrients. Although you could take Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins and then supplement the missing nutrients by taking additional pills, I prefer my prenatal vitamin to be all-inclusive and supply me with ALL of the nutrients that I need.

Overall rating of Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins

Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins would be fine to take as a supplement for somebody who occasionally wanted to add some vitamins to her diet. However, when you’re pregnant, it is essential to take your health and diet seriously. That means finding a prenatal vitamin that will supply you with all eight ingredients that I mentioned at the beginning of this review.

What is WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter?

WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter is a supplement for pregnant women that contains fish oil and several omega fatty acids. WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter is not, however, a prenatal multivitamin. There is no folic acid, iron, or calcium in WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter. If you decide to take WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter, you should still take a prenatal vitamin that contains these ingredients.

What ingredients are in WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter?

WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter contains Wild Alaskan salmon oil which contains 500mg of omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 fatty acids, omega-5,7&8 fatty acids, and omega-9 fatty acid. WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter also includes astaxanthin, mixed tocopherols, and a blend that contains rosemary, organic oregano, and organic sunflower oil.

WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter comes in softgel capsules made of gelatin, glycerin, and water.

What key ingredients are missing in WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter?

It’s important to understand what WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter is. Most of the prenatal vitamin reviews on this site discuss the pros and cons of prenatal multivitamin vitamins. While a prenatal multivitamin should contain folic acid, calcium, DHA, CoQ10, probiotics, choline, and ginger, WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter only contains DHA. However, this doesn’t make WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter a bad product – it just means that it should be taken in addition to another prenatal vitamin.

WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter contains plenty of DHA, which can sometimes be hard to find in prenatal multivitamins. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is a fatty acid that can make a big difference for you and your baby. When pregnant women get enough DHA during pregnancy, their children have advanced concentration abilities and perform better mentally and academically. Omega fatty acids, like the ones in WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter, also help your unborn baby’s eyes and brain develop quickly and healthily.

What else should I know about WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter?

New Chapter invests a lot of time to ensure the quality of its product. WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter gets its fish oil only from sustainable sources (wild salmon from Alaska’s natural fisheries). WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter also spends a lot of time and money to ensure that its oil is pure – New Chapter treats its fish oil like a fine olive oil. There is no question that WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter is a high-quality product that can enhance your health. The only question is – is it right for you and your baby?

Overall rating of WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter

Although WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter is a good product, I have a few cons to discuss. First of all, one daily dose is 4 softgel capsules. Like I mentioned above, WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter does not preclude the need to take a prenatal vitamin. So, if you decide to take WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter, you will be looking at taking at least 5 pills a day throughout your pregnancy. Personally, I prefer to take as few pills as possible. Not only do I dislike swallowing them, I find it difficult to remember to take many pills in one day.

WholeMega Prenatal from New Chapter contains valuable fatty acids. However, I think it’s easier to take one prenatal vitamin that contains these omegas as well as containing the other nutrients I need.

What is Vitamma Prenatal Multi?

Vitamma Prenatal Multi is a prenatal multivitamin that is meant to supplement the diet of pregnant women, women trying to become pregnant, or women who have already had a baby. Vitamma Prenatal Multi contains folic acid, iron, and calcium – some of the most important nutrients you need during pregnancy.

What ingredients are in Vitamma Prenatal Multi?

Vitamma Prenatal Multi contains vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and zinc. These are the nutrients included in Vitamma Prenatal Multi, but since Vitamma Prenatal Multi comes in tablet form, there are a few other “extras:” vegetable cellulose, calcium silicate, FD&C Blue No.1 Lake, FD&C Red No.40 Lake, FD&C Yellow No. Lake, titanium dioxide color, vegetable magnesium stearate, and vegetable stearic acid.

Tablets are made by compacting powder very tightly, until it assumes a solid form. To maintain appearance, tablets frequently contain diluents, binders, and artificial coloring. Because of these “extra” ingredients, and also because tablets are harder for your body to break down, I always prefer to take vitamins in capsule form.

What key ingredients are missing in Vitamma Prenatal Multi?

Like our homepage states, there are eight vital nutrients that will help your baby grow and develop while still keeping you healthy. These ingredients are folic acid, calcium, DHA, CoQ10, probiotics, choline, ginger root, and inositol. Vitamma Prenatal Multi contains folic acid and calcium, but lacks DHA, CoQ10, probiotics, choline, ginger root, and inositol. 2/8 is a pretty low fraction when it comes to your health and the health of your baby.

When these ingredients are combined in a prenatal vitamin, they will help your baby’s brain and nervous system develop quickly, prevent birth defects and premature delivery, and even help treat morning sickness and nausea that can occur during pregnancy.

It should also be noted that although Vitamma Prenatal Multi contains calcium, there is only 200mg per dose – much less than you and your baby will need. I always look for a prenatal vitamin with at least 750mg of calcium. If you decide to take Vitamma Prenatal Multi, you should be aware that you will definitely need to take a separate calcium supplement.

What else should I know about Vitamma Prenatal Multi?

When you buy a bottle of Vitamma Prenatal Multi, the company will use proceeds to treat three children with two years’ worth of vitamin A, an important vitamin for children that will help support their immune systems and their ability to fight infectious diseases.

Vitamma Prenatal Multi also comes at a very affordable price, at $14.99 for a bottle of 90 tablets.

Overall rating of Vitamma Prenatal Multi

Vitamma Prenatal Multi is certainly not the fanciest prenatal vitamin on the market. Out of eight crucial ingredients, Vitamma Prenatal Multi only contains two. This alone prevents me from giving Vitamma Prenatal Multi a very high rating. However, Vitamma Prenatal Multi does get a few things right, and I respect both the charitable nature of the Vitamma company, and for their commitment to maintaining affordable prices. Ultimately, the choice is up to you and you doctor to decide which prenatal vitamin is right for you.
